Earl Grey  (Amurath Baikal (x *Bask) x N.V. Masira (x Bey Shah+))
1998 Grey Purebred Arabian Stallion

US National Top Ten Futurity Colt 2001; Eastern Canadian Breeders Champion Stallion 2001; Region 16 Top 5 Stallion 2001; Region 18 Champion Stallion 2004.  Sire of Yearling Sweepstakes Champion, Regional Champions and Eastern Canadian Breeders Champions in both halter and performance.  Special congratulations to his daughter, Peppermint Paddy RF++, on achieving her Legion of Merit as a four-year-old.  Of note, this outstanding Half Arabian mare is but one point short of her Legion of Supreme Merit!

Fees: $1,000 / $750 - AHA Sweepstakes Nominated Sire; SCID clear.

We have always believed in form to function.  Earl Grey, as an extremely correct and beautiful halter horse, has had many Regional Championships and a US Top Ten Futurity Colt win.  His quality, beauty and athleticism are in striking evidence as he starts his career under saddle in 2008.  Although we believed his forte would be as a Western Pleasure horse, we felt Earl Grey needed a particular kind of show ring experience and we opted to put him in the Hunter division this year.  In his second show under saddle he was named 2008 Eastern Canadian Breeders Top 6 Purebred Hunter Pleasure horse.

At the Finger Lakes All Arabian Horse Show with Jenna Colautti aboard, he won the AATR 18-39 class of 18 horses and was named Champion Hunter Pleasure AATR.

At  the Region 16 Championships, "Paddy" again showed his talents and was declared Regional Champion Hunter Pleasure AATR 18-39, again under the skillful direction of Jenna.

A very special thank you to Edwin Thompson who has gained Paddy's respect and trust and a special thank you to Jenna Colautti for showing Paddy to his first performance championships.  Earl Grey... the beautiful athlete!

a little more about Earl Grey...

Earl Grey is the first colt out of our beautiful Top Ten and multi English Pleasure Champion Bey Shah+ daughter NV Masira and is sired by the *Bask son, Amurath Baikal (United States Reserve National Futurity Champion Stallion and sire of National Champions).

For those of you who have attended our annual Garden Party, Earl Grey's dam, N.V. Masira, will have left you with an unforgettable impression. She is a beautiful dark chestnut mare and is the epitome of what one would want in an Arabian broodmare - quality, femininity, an abundance of motion and a loving personality. Masira has been a highly successful show horse with major halter championships across the United States, as well as being a Canadian National Top Ten Halter Mare. Masira also has been a very successful English Pleasure Horse, again with major English Pleasure Championships across the Southwestern States and the North East. Her broodmare career has been equally successful. She is also the dam of Simply The Best (sired by Amurath Baikal), Region 16 and East Coast Champion Mare, Silent Wings (by Amurath Baikal), Region 16 Top Five Sweepstakes Filly and Hearts Afire (by Afire Bey V), Eastern Canadian Breeders Champion Yearling Filly.

Masira’s dam, Shantu+, was one of the top winning English Pleasure and Halter Horses in California, Oregon and Washington in the mid-70's, winning many classes of 20 to 25 horses in both divisions at the same show. The highlight of her show years was the 1974 US Top Ten English Pleasure award. Masira’s sire, Bey Shah+ (US Reserve National Champion Stallion), is legendary in his accomplishments as both an individual and a sire.

Amurath Baikal, the 1980 United States Reserve National Futurity Champion Stallion, brings together two of the most successful horses ever in the Arabian breed, *Bask and *Sanacht. *Sanacht, a German-bred horse, is the second All Time Leading Dam of Champions and consistently imparted quality of structure and refinement of bone to her offspring - as well as her beautiful soft eyes and wonderful disposition. Her offspring are still influential in some of the most important breeding programmes around the world! Baikal‘s sire, *Bask, will always be unforgettable in his contribution to the Arabian breed - the mind, attitude and physical attributes to be an athlete - something we seem to be losing in our breed today. *Bask was a National Champion Halter and Park Horse - proving form to function is feasible.

In Earl Grey, we feel we are blessed to have a combination of all this wonderful blood. He is bred to be, and is, a horse who is both beautiful and athletic. He is bred to be, and is, a horse who is kind and intelligent, thoughtful and people loving. Earl Grey has already proven himself as a top  halter horse - in 2001 as US National Top Ten Futurity Colt and Eastern Canadian Breeders Champion Stallion and again in 2004 as Region 18 Champion Stallion.  But most importantly, Earl Grey is bred to be, and is, a top breeding stallion....

Earl Grey's prowess as a breeding stallion is underscored by the success of his first  youngsters to show:

Peppermint Paddy RF++/ - 2004 Region 16 Champion Half Arabian Yearling Sweepstakes Filly, 2005 Region 18 Champion H/A Mare Stock Hunter, Region 18 Champion H/A Mare AOTH and Eastern Canadian Breeders Champion H/A Mare, and, in 2006, again Eastern Canadian Breeders Champion Half Arabian Mare, Region 18 Reserve Champion Half Arabian Mare, both Open and AOTH, and Supreme Champion -- thus garnering her Legion of Honor as a three-year-old! ; 2007: Eastern Canadian Breeders Champion Half Arabian mare and Half Arabian Hunter Pleasure; Region 18 Reserve Champion Sport Horse in Hand and Sport Horse Under Saddle and Top 5 Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse.  Garnering her Legion of Merit as a four-year-old (one point short of her Supreme Legion of Merit! 2008 - Region 18 Reserve Champion H/A Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse with Debbie Reid;

Clark Gable RF -2004 Region 16 Top 5 Yearling Purebred Sweepstakes Colt and Eastern Canadian Breeders Champion Purebred Yearling, 2005 Region 18 Reserve Champion two-year-old Sweepstakes Gelding;

Amazing Grace RF - 2005 Eastern Canadian Breeders Reserve Champion Yearling Filly

WHAT WE SEE IN THE BABIES - an incredible consistency - long legged, beautiful short coupled bodies, high set on long shapely necks, short pretty faces, tails carried up over their back, and oh, such wonderful, sensible, people loving dispositions...  and the ones old enough to ride - are extremely sensible and are stars!

Please give us a call if you think you may be interested in breeding your mare to this accomplished young breeding stallion.

Pomerol (*Padron  x *Poviest  (x *Salon))
1983 Chestnut Purebred Arabian Stallion

Fees: $2,000 - AHA Sweepstakes Nominated Sire, SCID clear.

See Pomerol's pedigree...

This grand *Padron son is wonderfully like his sire - tall, beautiful, extremely long necked and possessing just the most wonderful disposition.  As a young horse he was Grand Champion Stallion every time out - including the prestigious Santa Barbara Fall Show, shown by Mr. Michael Byatt.  He was just beginning his performance career when an unfortunate work injury ended his days in the show ring.  Probably one of the only *Padron sons out of a *Salon daughter, this beautiful elegant horse has much to offer the Arabian breed.  In spite of his early setback he has been quietly breeding quality foals that have excelled in a broad range of disciplines including  halter, english pleasure, country english pleasure, western pleasure, native costume and dressage. Our decision to purchase this horse became much easier when we saw three-year-old Colton Boggs call the horse to him.  Pomerol quietly walked over, dropped his muzzle and allowed himself to be led around the arena at the end of a six-foot lead shank!!  (see photo on Special Moments page)
The continued response to Pomerol has been  remarkable.  He has garnered interest from across North America ...from  people who remember having seen him in the show ring as a younger horse ...as well as those who were elated that a horse with such a pedigree was still available.

Pomerol stood to a full book of mares in 2007, partially in response to his beauty, charisma, temperament and pedigree as well as his obvious ability to unmistakably stamp his babies with qualtiy, size, athleticism, personality and that very distinctive *Padron look.

N.B. - it is worth the visit to Rideaufield just to see this grand old gentleman - he is magnificent, truly one of the elderly greats of the Arabian breed....

a little more about Xceptshahn...
...Xceptshahn is a very interesting horse. He has the snort, blow and size that is the trademark of the Bey Shah+ sons; however, he is a beautifully tight coupled horse with a long croup and strong loin. His tail female line traces to Nabiel and Gamaar which gives him his exotic, typey look. He is an extremely leggy individual. Xceptshahn has a very short, typey head and beautifully tipped ears. He is extremely athletic and agile - traits he consistently passes on to his get!
His oldest to show under saddle, Sir Royal Bey Montana++++//, who is owned by Michelle Harbridge, is one of the few Legion of  Masters/Excellence  horses in North America.  Montana has amassed numerous regional wins in halter in both open and amateur divisions as well as numerous National Top Ten Hunter Pleasure awards both Open and Amateur.   2005 was a very successful year for Sir Royal Bey Montana++++// - Canadian Reserve National Champion, Ladies Side Saddle (shown by Corky Sutton) and Top Ten Halter.  In 2006 - Canadian Reserve National Champion Purebred Side Saddle.  And again, numerous Regional Championships in Halter and Performance, both Open and AOTR.
2006 heralded the Legion of Honor awards to two Xceptshahn daughters:  Pretty Woman+ (at halter) and The Xceptshahnelle Rose RF+ (under saddle) - owned by Lise Clark.  Xceptshahn was named one of the Top 30 Sweepstakes Sires in North America in 2006.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008 - amongst his winning get in 2006 were two two-year-old Regional Champion Halter horses
  • 2006 Region 9 Champion Mare, WC Ciao Belle, owned by Western Cross Ranch in Texas;  in 2008 she was US National Top Ten Junior Mare (tied for Reserve Champion)
  • 2006 Region 16 Champion Stallion and Champion Two-Year-Old Sweepstakes Colt Colorado RF; 2007 Region 18 Champion Gelding (owned by Rideaufield Farms

Xceptshahn has one of the highest ratios of Champion get to number of get in North America.... quite an accomplishment!

We are also thrilled with the beautiful Xceptshahn daughters bred by Rideaufield, Pretty Woman+Liz Taylor RF and Xceptshahnelle Woman RF, all out of the *Ibn Safinaz daughter, Alia Nazada

Pretty Woman+ ("Julia") has a phenomenal show record to date - three years in a row being named Eastern Canadian Champion Mare and, also in 2004, Region 16 Champion Mare both Open and Amateur . Two of her junior siblings show great promise in the show ring:  Liz Taylor RF (owned by Faye Sampson ), who has started off well in halter (Region 18 Top Five Mare AOTH and Eastern Canadian  Breeders Reserve Champion Mare) and winning her first Hunter class with Debbie Reid in 2005;   Xceptshahnelle Woman RF, 2005 Region 16 Unanimous Champion Two-year-old Sweepstakes Filly and Top Five in the Open Mare class;  and the next, and possibly the best, young Champion of this extremely successful cross,  Colorado RF,  2005 Region 12, 15 and 16 Top Five Yearling Sweepstakes Colt and the talk of the East Coast!

And then the beautiful Xceptshahn daughter, Atiah Zafar - her first time shown in 2005 as a seven-year-old... undefeated Class A Halter, Canada and the United States and Region 16 and 18 Reserve Champion Mare.  She is equally beautiful under saddle, and, in 2006 was Eastern Canadian Breeders Champion Hunter Pleasure and Region 18 Top Five Mare...

WHAT WE SEE IN THE BABIES - lots of size, beautiful shaped high set on necks, lots of leg, strong loined, short coupled, pretty face and ears, extremely agile, intelligent and athletic.
